Hi, I’m Maya Caldwell, the creator of Careerory. I’m a career coach, a former university admissions counselor, and a recruiter who has spent the last decade helping people make sense of the systems that influence who gets the interview, who gets admitted, and who gets funded.
If you’re here because you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or just tired of guessing what you’re “supposed” to do next, you’re in the right place. Careerory exists because I’ve seen how smart, hardworking people can get shut out by confusing processes and unspoken rules. My job is to make those rules visible, and help you move forward with a plan you can actually follow.

Why I built Careerory
I grew up in a working-class family where college applications and financial aid felt like an impossible puzzle. The forms were complicated, the deadlines were intimidating, and it always seemed like everyone else had a secret handbook I didn’t.
I eventually pieced it together, secured scholarships, and earned my degree in Human Resources. But I never forgot what it felt like to be on the outside of the process looking in. Careerory is my way of handing you the “handbook” I wish my family had, without the judgment and without the fluff.
I’m passionate about careers because careers shape everything. They affect your stability, your stress level, your options, and often your sense of purpose. You deserve a path that supports your life, not one that drains it.
My background, in plain English
I’ve worked on both sides of the desk, and that’s what makes my approach practical.
- University admissions (5 years): I helped students navigate applications, essays, and financial aid conversations. I learned how institutions make decisions, and how to present a story clearly and honestly.
- Corporate recruiting (7 years): I hired for nursing roles and remote tech positions, which taught me what hiring managers actually prioritize, how applicant tracking systems filter resumes, and what turns a “maybe” into a “yes.”
- Supporting veterans: My passion for military-to-civilian transitions started at home, when I guided my brother through his post-service job search. I understand how hard it can be to translate military experience into civilian language without losing what makes it valuable.
Careerory’s mission
Careerory exists to make education and career advancement accessible to everyone, especially people who feel like they missed the memo on how this is all supposed to work.
